I’m back in Dubai ! Returned about a week ago from my extended trip to Europe , which was all kinds of amazing ! Now that I’ve unpacked everything and am slowly getting back into my routine , I can’t help but feel like blogging is part of it ( the routine, that is ) . So here I am with not one but two bold winter lipsticks I’ve been loving this month and are well under $35 which is , to me , pretty inexpensive if compared to my usual Dior,Chanel, Guerlain or Tom Ford favorites ( post coming up bientôt ) . I have a few drugstore favorites too which I’ll be reviewing in a different post this week . Enough backstory details , check out the picture below to discover my picks .
Clinique Pop lipcolour + primer in Colapop and Estée Lauder pure colour envy Liquid Lip Potion in Bittersweet ( those names though ). I love them both for their intense pigmentation, smooth application and perfect semi-satin finish that doesn’t really budge unless you’re participating in an intense smooch session. When they do fade though, they fade into a (coincidently) just-been-kissed kind of color or just-been-bitten if you’re into that .
Clinique’s Colapop ($18) has obvious brown undertones with the right amount of brick red tinge in it , which is very on trend with the the whole 90’s grunge throwback people have been sporting but classy enough to be suitable for a more formal meeting, for example .
Estée Lauder’s Bittersweet ($30) is more of intense, dark plum-berry with a bit of brown that just screams ‘ I’m so bold and I know it and I love it ‘. Maybe not in those exact words but I’m sure you understand the vibe I’m trying to project here.
See the swatches below for yourself
If someone put a gun to my head and ordered me to pick one , I’d pick Clinique pop lipcolour + primer in Colapop because you don’t need a mirror to apply it when on the go and it requires less precision than my Estée Lauder suggestion if you did have a mirror . ( what psycho would do that , btw? Holding a gun to one’s head to pick a Lipstick ?! I can only imagine someone like Anna Wintour doing it and if she did , I would totally not press charges because if she does it, it makes sense. – my thoughts after a triple espresso)
So , what do you think ? Any recommendations of other lipsticks within this price range ? $18 – $30 . I want to give Kat Von D a try now that I’ve gotten over the overall look of her choice of packaging. ( yes ,I am that girl. )
Have a beautiful, cosy, relaxing Sunday all you lovely people !
