Every Autumn/Winter I tend to have a go-to matte lipstick that I keep in my bag & use up by the end of the season. Which lipstick is it this year, you ask? I have a hunch it’s going to be this limited edition lipstick that Chanel released this fall as part of their Rouge Allure line (2015 edition) in #53 a.k.a La Mysterieuse.
The colour ,which is described in the press release as a copper-rosewood , translates on my lips to the most flattering muted berry tone with a bit of a rosewood undertone. The lipstick is very pigmented ,has a creamy texture and dries matte . It applies beautifully without a hint of pulling or tugging . I generally apply a swipe or two and am set to go. In the evening, I’ll take my time and really build up the pigmentation ( 3-4 swipes ) to get a beautiful berry tone with brown undertones – gorgeous ! Check out the swatch below.
However many swipes I choose to apply, the colour lasts for a good 5 hours on me & my lips don’t feel dry or chapped afterwards. If I happen to eat something or have a cup of coffee, the colour will fade slightly but it does so in a very even and elegant way. By the end of 5 hours my lips will be stained with a light berry-pink tone , like I’ve just bitten them. So yes, I’m happy to report that I’ve found that matte lipstick I’ll keep on reaching for everyday this season till Spring do us part. ( or till I finish it, more likely)
So how about you? Which lipstick are you keeping in your bag?
